Photosynthesis Fine Art Photography
and Printing is a small creative enterprise established in Lancaster
June 2004, specializing in monochrome fine art landscape photography
firmly rooted in the creative monochrome tradition. We supply fine art
galleries, the fine art wholesale trade, restaurants and corporate
clients in the North and North West of England with beautiful and
inspiring photographic images.
I have been photographing landscapes
for many years, and graduated from Lancaster University in 1994 with a
first-class arts degree. After graduating, I began to establish a
reputation for innovative landscape photography, and created
Photosynthesis Fine Art Photography and Printing to print and supply
my work to a growing network of art galleries. I also became tutor in
digital imaging and photography at Lancaster University.
Statement of
Artistic Intent:
“My work focuses on the elemental beauty of natural landscapes. The
land and our environment has become a powerful and consistent
aesthetic reference for beauty in every culture, particularly as pure
landscapes or wilderness are so rare and threatened today. My
photography aims to isolate elemental purity and simplicity, and to
explore the longing many of us have for pure landscapes. My images are
a personal and public reminder of our vital heritage, emphasizing
form, pattern, and time in the landscape as a source of meaning and
personal reference. Ultimately, my photography is about mystery, the
past, and its connection to the present as an important source of
meaning.”
It was Henri Cartier-Bresson who said, “I take pictures to find myself
and hope that I hit the bull’s eye”. My work represents some of the
moments in my endeavours where I hope I have ‘hit the bull’s eye.’!
